Pleoblastus humilis
A very utilitarian small bamboo species, Pleoblastus humilis is often used for erosion control, large scale groundcover, and in some cases, as a lawn replacement! This small bamboo can be kept to just a few inches high by mowing, or can be allowed to grow unchecked for larger height.
Care requirements for Pleoblastus humilis
Light- does best in dappled sun, but will tolerate a wide range, up to full sun if watered well
Water- Moderate water requirement
Temperature- down to -0F
Size- can reach 4' tall in ideal conditions, but more commonly reaches 2-3'. canes can be up to 1/8" diameter. Can be trimmed shorter or mowed like grass.
