Phyllostachys bambusoides 'Castillon'

Castillon is one of the most decorative medium size timber bamboos.  A form of Japanese timber bamboo, this variety has beautifull canes that emerge golden, with broad green stripes alternating sides on the entire cane and branches.  Leaves are slightly variegated with white pinstripes.  This bamboo works best as a focal point in a garden, with the branches trimmed up slightly to the color and pattern on the canes can be appreciated.

  • Water- Moderate water requirement, low once established

  • Temperature- down to -0F

  • Size- Can reach 35' tall in ideal conditions. canes can be up to 2" diameter. Can be trimmed shorter like a standard hedge.
